The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for rescheduling and conducting a successful ward congress in the state.
The governor gave the commendation while addressing newsmen on Friday after he voted in Ogboko Ward 2 in Ideato South Local Government Area of the state.
The rescheduled congress follows a court’s nullification of the one held initially on May 5, 2018, after the outcome was marred by some misconduct.
Some congress materials had allegedly gone missing during the exercise.
About a week after, youths in the state protested against the alleged misconduct and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fix a new date for the Congress.
Months after, the election has been reconducted, a move which the governor believes will play a huge role in strengthening the party’s internal democracy.
He said the leadership of the party has fulfilled the wishes of the teaming APC supporters in the state by allowing the people to choose their leaders by casting their vote.
Okorocha, therefore, called on aggrieved members of the party to embrace the new leadership which will enable the party to emerge victorious in all positions come 2019.
