Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akoko North-West local government area of Ondo State have accused the state executives of scheming them out of party activities.
The members, who voiced out their grievances at the state secretariat in Akure, during a protest led by the Chairman of the Elders’ Forum, Bisi Oloro and its Secretary, Bisi Olanipeku slammed the state party executives for not releasing the Arigidi/Iye ward executives list, after the other nine wards had been released.
Speaking during the protest, Oloro decried the continuous marginalization of party members in the local government by the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
He also maintained that with the unalloyed support given to the Governor since his first attempt in 2012 by the local chapter of the party, coupled with his assurance during the build up to his election in 2016, no member had been duly compensated.
“Up till today, no single appointment is given to any of us that worked tirelessly to sustain the party at Arigidi Akoko.
“Instead of appreciating our noble contributions to the party by giving us a deserve appointment, the list of our executives is withheld without any tangible reason which is a great irony of faith,” he said.
The chairman further stated that the continuous delay in the release of ward executives list problems being handled by the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, potends imminent crisis for the party.
Also, the chairman of the ward, Akinyele Akogun, admonished that the victimization of the party members, if not checkmated, will further polarize the party.
“We have told them what the party stands to lose if they don’t release that list. In politics, there is always some sort of suspicion but we want to wait to see what will come out of the suspicion.
“The party is biting the fingers that fed it. It is only when there is peace that the party can grow,” he stressed.
